The Guilds, 1096 AF
About nine o’clock on Friday, Satuun and Lady Katrina du Venoir were due to be wed. Golgamoth was called upon to perform the ceremony. Various wedding presents were given though these were not token of appreciation by various parties. The wedding was progressing but was no concluded.
Suddenly Schadel entered the circle. Schadel and Satuun faced each other for some time. Schadel then invoked the power of the circle to open a portal to the Void. They wrestled. Schadel used his power of true magic to destroy the seal on the circle. This opened the circle to the waiting Incantor wedge. This was enough to send him into the portal and the Void. The wedge was 486 plus 50 from Floris and 200 from Schadel. This totalled 736 and was enough to dismiss Satuun . Unfortunately, Satuun grabbed Schadel’s staff as he went into the void and so we lost them both. Seeing the Staff disappear the physical form of Schadel followed the staff into the Void.
Floris had no other choice but to close the portal. OnceSatuun and Schadel had been lost, the portal was sealed but not in time. A large number of Unliving and demons poured forth from the transport circle located next door. At this point Golgamoth also came forth from the circle and a pitched battle ensued. Initially, when Golgamoth came forth, no man would approach him. Eventually in a fit of panic (bravery or stupidity) Conor CuChulain faced him to draw him away from the Queens of Caledonia. On seeing this, a unit of Wolves and others were given enough heart to drive Golgamoth back into the ritual circle by sheer weight of numbers.
On Saturday morning, there were rumours that Satuun had been sighted in the Tarantulas camp. This spread like wildfire. The Drow Mage that was possessed bySatuun turned up as a Ghost in the Centre of the Drow Camp……
Lady Kathen Fairchild was ordered by Lady Karlennon to resign as Ritualist for the Incantors Guild as she was not spending enough time with her faction. The Incantors Guild had to buy in two ritual groups plus a slot when the second ritualist was mugged on the way to the Mages Guild.
Sir Calaragil of the Unicorns (High Incantor) foresaw his own death. Lady Attila the Nun stated that he would be much missed and the Guild offered condolences to his kin.
Grand Master Snake stood down from running the Scouts Guild on the Sunday and was rumoured to have taken a large sum of money as reparation. Sordelan was made acting Grand Master. As Sordelan explained, “A member [of the Scouts Guild] gives him access others of like mind. It also acts to support individuals within other information networks. Advice will be given on where to sell information or items. If work is performed for the Scouts Guild then Guildsmen may be promoted and taught special skills such as tracking, concealing small items and climbing walls. Commissions from Factions, other Guilds and individuals are solicited and then farmed out to members. These commissions may be of almost any nature suitable for Scouts. An annual newsletter will be published.”
The Dan’nathur Ritual Group of the Wolves was asked by the Incantors Guild to inaugurate the powers of the Knights of Laen and are by their nature steadfast persons. Their duties are to act as Incantor Guards and the members are to be faction based. They are lead by Knight Commanders, who are co-ordinated by Yargon McYokel of the Bears.
Lady Rhiannon of Melnibone, formally a notable vampire and an important alchemist was slain by the Flames of Abraham. The affair caused much consternation in the Drow camp. Rumours abounded that Galan De Lacy had also been slain, but fortunately these were false. The trial of the Flames of Abraham will be held over the Dragons and Viper parliaments. The opening and prosecution will be heard at the Dragons’ Council and the conclusion will be at the Viper Parliament.
Floris Brand was accepted into the Ritualists Guild despite the friction between them and the Mages Guild. Magus Magnusson, the Guild Leader, was delighted. There are rumours of the Mages Guild attempting to form its own inner circle of Ritualists to oppose this Guild.
At the Wolves Moot of 1096 AF, Ged of the Fellowship of the Full Moon was afflicted by some strange decease. This was initially non-contagious with the whitening of his skin. By the end of August it had become infectious. Both Myra of the Fellowship and Ghash of Dan’nathur were afflicted. After much research, Tel Falcon of the Healers Guild pronounced it to be Teutonic Plague. He was subsequently cured of it.
There was great discussion at the Guild over the new maps that will be available of the World. Certainly my perception of Albion has changed since the “new” survey that I was involved in occurred.
The Gargoyle Ritual went wrong because one of the substitute ritual group closed the circle in the name of Lloth instead of the Ancestors. The Gargoyle came to life and stomped out of the circle. All is now under control though as we persuaded her to return to the guild tent with us. When asked to guard the tent she reverted to stone form but its true name is required to controlling it. Lady Attila the Nun stated to me late on the Monday night, “There is still a reward of 5 gold out for the true name of the gargoyle. It seems that over two hundred people had dreams. Alas it seems they were not comparing notes. This is the way of the world.”
Rian Cyngelis, the White Mage, managed to almost destroy himself yet again. The accident occurred while he was examining an artefact that had been acquired by the Bears. There was some form of explosion and his physical form was shattered into pieces. Some two hundred years ago, Cyngelis died and was replaced by a duplicate. This time he escaped death by projecting his essence into a carved horn according to the Grand Master Floris-Brand.
A penetrating cold mist that swept Teutonia heralded the walking of several vampires of varying power. One vampire apparently beguiled a number of goblins and caused them to attack camps. Under the confusion the vampire used the chaos to feed almost unnoticed off those downed by the fighting. There was a lot of trouble over the weekend apparently caused by a single very powerful vampire attempting to slay others of his kind.
Agnus Morrison the Smith of the Old Invincibles was selected by the weaponsmith to act as Augustus Trickley’s second. It is hoped that the claims against the guild for over charging will be suitably addressed. It is reported that they were basically charging double the amount the weapons were worth in order to protect their own profit margins. The Guild has become rather unpopular of late after its announcement that Silver plated weapons do not actually work against creatures that require silver to disrupt their patterns and the large price increases.
