Duchy reports, 1123
Albion
Except for Oxford and Havoc, life in Albion has gone on after the death
of the King and Dame Mellyor. While the nation put their grief on show
for all to see regarding the King, it was short lived. The outpouring at the
death of Dame Mellyor was altogether different and has carried on for
longer. Followers of all ancestors in Albion have felt the pain and grief
caused by her death at the hands of the Turnkey Court. Supplies, goods
and foods are available but not in large amounts, even Winchester and
York are keeping a close eye on things. Mostly a result as large
numbers of people travel to sites or places sacred to the ancestors and
not just in their own duchy. Worst hit has been Keswick, the situation in
Havoc has not helped. Keswick will need to be helped and watched to
stop it sliding further down the road to Chaos.
Since the proclamation of Cara as Queen, and the death of Dame
Mellyor the land and the spirit seem to be in a state of change. The land
and the spirit seen to be getting wyld, at present this is a slow change
with only one or two things to start. With the exception of Gloucester.
The wyld is not the same as when Caligar consumed the land and the
creatures nor is it staying in line with the strict line of law followed and
portrayed by the late King, but one that has a slight hint of Chaos.
Where people feel they are unable to help their fellow Albione’s or things
change for the better or worst but they want to help, some have called
for rites to be performed or even a ritual.
Cornwall
A great many people have journeyed to towns and villages all over
Cornwall, in the wake of two great events in the previous year. The
demise of Dame Mellyor as the Avatar of Nethras, has led to many
people wishing to visit the home of the Dame and the surrounding
countryside. As they attempt to come to terms with the loss and to seek
answers from their ancestors.
The coming of a Cornish Queen has led many others to Albion’s
southern Duchy, some to find out more about her and her life before.
They also hope to catch a glimpse of the new Queen.
The coastal areas have not fared as well, the mild winter has left those
who seek a life wreaking and salvaging the beaches short of goods and
or food. This has forced many further inland to seek work in towns,
villages of the duchy or even further afield. The rise in the number of
people in some towns has led to food and accommodation shortages
and numerous run-ins with the Sheriff’s office. With the loss of the
coastal population any early warnings of ships friendly or foes has
stopped in places leaving stretches of the coast open to raiding.

Gloucester
Since the elevation of the new Duke within Gloucester there has been a steady
increase in duchy pride and morale of the citizens. While citizens have been proud of
the history, the tradition and for what they have done for the duchy as a family, the
Hulce’s were a bit stuck in the past. Having a green skin in charge has its perks.
A boost in the number of non-human join the Gloucester battalion has led to the
battalion being a full strength for the first time in many years and with reservists.
Like some of the other duchies, Gloucester has seen an influx of those who follow
the ancestors, especially after the capture of the avatars and demise of Dame
Mellyor. The Green Wood has seen many makeshift shrines erected. Unfortunately,
this has also led to several deaths and severely injured people after attacks by the
creatures of the Green Wood.
Since the capture of Sir Gawain the atmosphere within the Green has been
somewhat subdued especially in the more sacred places. Those who normally have
access to Chapel Perilous have been denied entry.
The mild winter has been welcomed by most with stocks and supplies still plenty
even with the increase in numbers throughout the duchy.
Increasingly, over the past few months the duchy has started to take on a wild nature
and it does not appear to be an influence associated with the Hunter. The natural
order of things is still in balance, the wild things creature’s and plants alike are
encroaching but the people do not seem that concerned. There was some issue to
begin with but the people are now for the most part quite accepting of the fact. Some
of the scouts and rangers also seem to have made use of the wild folk, aiding them
as they go about their business.
No incursions over the Dragon’s Spine have been noted. Bandit activity has been
low, this might be a result of the increase in numbers for the battalion and the
sheriff’s office.

Keswick
The death of the King at the hands of Mordred and the sacking of Havoc
by the forces of Mordred has left the citizens in a bad way. Winter
festival failed to raise the spirits; the mild winter did raise spirits for a
time as the normal deep snows never came. The low morale has had an
effect on those who would join the duchy battalion and the sheriff’s,
rangers and scout’s offices leaving vital positions empty. The mild winter
has had the effect of higher-than-normal supply levels and trade coming
into the duchy from the rest of Albion. Supplies have been higher even
with people fleeing from the Barony of Havoc as Mordred continues his
occupation.
There has been an increase in those who follow the ancestor visiting
the sacred places after the capture of the avatars and the death of Dame
Mellyor at the hands of the Turn-key Court. Some refugees have made
their way to Keswick from Oxford.
Those in the North and West of the duchy have seen little in raider and
bandit activity over the winter even with lower-than-normal snow falls in
the high ground.

Winchester
The death of the King hit the duchy hard, it left a lot of the citizens in a
daze for some time. This slump was felt throughout the year as some of
the harvests were missed and the battalion and other offices of the land
were not filled, and this had a knock-on effect too. The lands and the
fields are full of the missed harvests or overgrown and unkempt. Even
the grounds of the large stately home have been affected. The once
proud duchy is now starting to look a bit shabby, even the great library at
Brigthelm-Staine is in need of repair. The smaller towns and villages are
suffering the most with the lack of communication and support coming
their way.
As with the other duchies, followers of the ancestors flocked to the
sacred places or erected their own shrine after news of the capture of
the avatars and the death of Dame Mellyor at the hands of the Turn-Key
Court. This in turn has created some issues with the lack of people in
public office and those that are unable to cope at times.
Sea Goblins have once again been sighted off the coast around the Trell
Marshes. Rumour is they spoke to someone at Court last year. They
have not been a menace, but folk are concerned.

York
York has fared only a little better than the other duchies. Like Gloucester
the appointment of a new Duke is always met with merriment, this time
was no exception.
As with other duchies, those who follow the ancestors have flocked to
the sacred places or just built their own shrines where they could. Again,
as a result of the action of the TurnKey Court in capturing the avatars of
the Trinity.
The foundations laid down by Duke Robert Falcon some 20 years ago
and carried forward by those who followed him have kept the Duchy
steady even in times of great need. The death of the King at the hands
of Mordred was a blow to the people of the Duchy as it was with all other
duchies in Albion, however the people have rallied somewhat and
pushed through as is the nature of those in the Duchy.
Of note there are a couple of areas of concern in the Duchy –
Lindisfarne – the rebuilding of the village by as yet unknown people
Iver – the volcano at the centre of the Iver Mountains is of concern.
