Concerning Mannanan
Acquired Autumn 1126
The Harts library of Bright Helm Staine contains many and wonderful insights into Albion’s past. However much of the time of the ancestors before Albion is limited or non-existent.
What we do know of Mannanan stems from his time as Lord of the Seas around Albion. We also know this ancestor is widely venerated across Prydwen. He is known to be an unforgiving master. Along mainly coastal areas many will throw tribute to him to make sure that the seas do not claim them. A rival of the Hunter at the time of choosing, but his worship was bought back into favour by notable members of the Albion court, with one such high-profile court member none other than the Lord Protector Jaspar Orlaine.
Purview: The wrath of the sea and the creatures that hunt there. The destruction of the land and all civilisation upon it.
Avatar: Sir Tristan the Mariner (the bold mariner)
Aspects: The Albatross (in both its good and bad luck aspects). The Bold Mariner. The Hermit Lord.
Beliefs:
- The weak exist only at the sufferance of the strong. They would do well to remember this.
- The ultimate expression of strength is the ancestors. The strongest of the ancestors is Mannanan.
- Progress in all fields of life is derived from strength.
- For a people to prosper the strong must be allowed to act unfettered by the rules or morals of lesser men.
- Luck is the excuse of the weak. The strong make their own path in life.
- Anything a man can attain is rightfully his, the just reward of his strength, ingenuity or power.
Followers of Mannanan are taught to make their own way in life, to strive to meet their goals and not rely on luck. Suffer not the weak, strive to be powerful.
Beyond this there is little of the ancestor’s history before this time or any previous incarnations.
