A report on Moot 2, 1125

writ by Sir Graf Dog-Mortimer

I thought I would put a list together of things that happened at the Moot since people aren’t doing it much these days.

Iver

After the volcano exploded recently we’ve been doing our best to rescue people stuck in the area. They got things cleared enough so that a lot of us were able to go and do useful rescue activity on our way to the moot, and a party of one or two transports also went back later to deal with some of the more problematic bits.

Deaths

The younger adventurers have been an ahead party kind of thing and dropped a device to stop us from all getting petrified when we approach the Nexus area where the Gathering is being held. But before that there were problems where there was some sort of weird glowly portal appearing now and then that I think was a link through to there. It was pulling people towards it and anyone who stepped between three stones that surrounded it was in danger of getting petrified. To deal with it we needed to be able to lay the stones to rest but the stones were doing magical damage themselves. We weren’t well prepared and didn’t have the ability to deal with them quickly. Lady Maru almost fell victim to them but was rescued but not before we lost several well known Harts. They were:

Blisterwort
Marrock
Sir Kristos
Giovanni
Sir Wilberforce

On top of the losses at the Fayre this was a difficult night. Maru laid to rest all of them except for Kristos who left no body because of his ancestral form. She spoke of them all at the muster and told us about a letter from Rosie about Asura’s death – this got read out later in the day. Consider writing an obituary if you have been affected by one of these losses. We all deserve to be remembered and writing holds for longer than voices.

Grypons vs Unicorns

Something is going on between these two factions that looks like it’s going to spill over because they’re at the point of marching on each other’s gates. I don’t know enough to explain this properly but this is the bits I know. Some people from the Gryphons decided to leave their lands and move to the Unicorn lands. They were prominent people in the worship of an ancestor called something like Anwyn. So Anwyn’s tree is now in the Unicorn glade instead of the Gryphon one. The Gryphons say this is unacceptable and they need to undo the move. I’m pretty confused because my understanding is that where the faith is strongest the ancestor goes, so we sometimes have Merlin and sometimes don’t, and right now we have the Great Horned Rat when I think the Jackals had him before. Seems to me that the Grypons need to do more acts of faith towards the ancestors they want to keep but I guess I’m missing something since they’re all angry at each other. I never quite got around to going and investigating though.

Vortigen

Vortigen sent a troop of people to yell at us about how we need to withdraw from the Bloodwood. Unfortunately they were a bit enthusiastic and flattened most of the people in camp, possibly including the highest military people. Arf Her kept trying to talk them down and they kept demanding that he should sort it out and he kept saying he didn’t have no authority and eventually he said OK he would go and ask them to leave and THEN they said why should they believe him, like I’m not sure what more they wanted. Theo vouched for Arf Her and they left saying the armies need to be gone in 2 weeks. I think the withdrawal has been ordered but not being a military person I’m not completely sure of that.

Nethras visited

The Crone aspect of Nethras came to talk to us and tell us to seize every day as if it is the last one we will ever have because we all have to die but endings are just a new start to the cycle. She said that all the fallen of recent times are with their ancestors and we should not be too sad about it. I think this is the third time she has visited this year, each time embodying a different aspect.

Raya visited

Raya is on the path to becoming an embodiment of Good, I think at the sort of level that this plane can’t host for long. She visited us and chatted while the Bears were around our camp. She said that we are a Good faction and should hold true to our ideals and fight against evil. She talked about the Gazed and how Ittimin was a vampire who spoke to Erdreja and changed her (she said something like “Ittimin fed her sweet words of poison and told her they were honey”) and talked about how we need to stand strong against the unliving.

Mists

Two kinds of misty things bothered us. One seems fairly harmless but I don’t trust it. They are wispy creatures you can’t hit because they’re not exactly there, like little clouds. If they surround you they can teleport you. They are low enough rank to not be too hard to dismiss and they don’t attack, they just sort of invade and move people. The others were mist tornadoes, a much higher rank and doing far more damage. The mist tornadoes took down a lot of the camp when they came in.

Before the tornadoes came there was a stone that was supposed to be holding them back. So… a long time ago there was a Queen Albiona and it seems like she ruled over all of Prydwyn. Somehow time and mists have gotten muddled and she and some people who work for her are among us now – there is a report of when we first encountered these scholar sorts. They are called Aethelstan and Aethelwold. They came to us on Friday and offered to put a protection stone in place for us and said it would hold back the mists. We agreed for this to happen and it got put down. But suddenly it broke apart on Saturday evening and then in no time we were under attack from the tornadoes. It was almost like they transported through the stone, but then it would look like that if the thing that was stopping you getting somewhere was suddenly gone, wouldn’t it? So it’s unclear if these people tricked us, were tricked themself, or were completely honest but might get mad their stone got broke – although they did say it wasn’t going to last very long. So that’ll be interesting. We’re already in a position where Albiona is calling us her Vassals.

Prydwyn

Talking of Prydwyn, we gathered some Bears and Dragons to do a rite using the Helm to speak to Prydwyn about the damage done in the ritual earlier in the year. I think there might be a long path to forgiveness on that one but at least we’ve taken some steps along it.

Inkwell

There is a new newspaper in Albion called the Albion Inkwell. Usually I’d be quite happy about that except that they don’t seem to check their sources very well and claimed Theo said some stuff he says he never. But also there was something really weird about the newspaper and people were finding that when they read it different words appeared and there was a story to read. Not everyone got the same story. If people weren’t able to read it a voice said “thank you for trying” in their head. So that was pretty weird to start out.

Then things got more weird and pretty concerning when a box appeared in camp – the box is the exact thing the Turnkey Court used to magic into place, but it seems to of been taken over by this Inkwell lot as the writing on it showed the box was repurposed and there was links between stuff in the paper and on the box. People who went near the box felt like they were in a strange void and having a conversation with an elemental being. All very weird and not exactly sure if it was malevolent as such but quite strange and concerning either way. We’re trying to track down the person in charge of the paper, she’s called Dotty something, but nobody knows where to find her.

Rituals

Cesealia was made ancestral and Martin who you probably know as the kelp guy wanted to be made into a kelp creature I think. Cesealia’s ritual was successful, not completely sure what the outcome for Martin was. I also helped out the Incantors in their ritual although I only just made it cos I was trying to make it to an appointment with Sir (brother) Ross, except I missed him sitting in the tent next door to the one he actually visited so I’m going to have to find out more about balrogs of law some other way.

Bears

The Bears wanted our help in chaining up a giant dog that guards the underworld with magic chains. Can’t say I’m exactly thrilled about that as a general concept but I helped out on the battlefield anyway and the objective did get achieved.

Sicilijans

I can’t say a lot about what’s going on here, I only see little bits at a distance. But for a long time the Crows of Albion have had an interest in the Sicilijan pantheon and have been working with others to look into the release of K’sarul. They say that the tales of doom about what would happen if he got released have been proven to be false. Something significant happened over this weekend where Althea was involved in taking a mask from some high ranking lady who she took down in the middle of camp.

That’s it

I am sure I missed stuff. I am sure other people would tell it different. But I don’t see nobody else reporting right now so…
