A Letter to all who Listen
To the People of Albion
As I write to you, it is the eve of war. Tomorrow, dozens of armies from the nations of the Heartlands and Southlands will march on the walls of Al’Quafar to seize the Wellspring of Evil from the hands of the Arch-Betrayer Satuun. Amongst them will be you, brave heroes of Albion, fighting the good fight to ensure Erdreja’s future…
I have not seen such unity since the time when Albion fell. You’ve achieved such amazing things since then. Albion has never been my home, despite my ties to the land as strong as your Queen and many of your Royal Council – yet I am immensely proud that my destiny was to stand amongst you all. It fills me with such misery however, to know that despite having risen so highly, I know you will be betrayed…
Even if you win the battle tomorrow, people of Albion, you will certainly lose the war. The Planes of Unlife remain in the hands of Satuun who would seek to corrupt all lands and destroy all your people and ancestors as he did Nethras. Even if he is removed, others there will look to take his place and will use his knowledge against you. Your people can never be safe from the ancestor’s rage and bitterness…
But that is why I write to you. I write to you, because fate told me, one day, I would write this letter and offer you all an alternative path. I represent the Bastellus. We are Unlife Essentials, and what we value most is a Plane of Unlife devoid of Ancestors. A place where patterns of little worth can be returned to the cycle and where those with knowledge, such as your Guardian of the Dead, can prosper and share that knowledge for the betterment of Erdreja.
Such is my wish to see the Plane of Unlife freed, I became the very thing you despise. I walked into Al’Quafar willingly to become the creature I am. I did it neither for power nor for fame but because it is what must be done. I did it for Queen, for Trinity, for every Hart and anyone who’d call Albion home. But I also did it for all those who died so my fate could lead me there. I did it for Shio. I did it for Surbidch, Elusive, Sathareal, Taryn. I did it for Ma. I did it for every Albione who has ever died to uphold what you believe in. Because I believe you deserve a world, if not free from the unliving, then freed from their corruption and abominable effect on your land, people and spirit…
If you wish to learn more of us and what we, the Bastellus can do, we can be contacted through the Bards and Watchers, though many such as Wildfire, Torwell, and Fenrir know of me amongst your Court.
This Gathering, I intend to change Erdreja. And I will do it for you.
Albion Forever
