The Harts Council of 1095 AF

The Harts Council of 1095 AF

Sir Huw de Grognard
Lady Elspeth Karlennon and her brother Sir Hugo Charenten made everyone welcome. Duke Anree represented Lord Corvus with his various Earls seated to his left. To the right was Lady Karlennon, Sir Hugo, Duke Calin, Lady Katrina Du Venoir of Cymrija, Tamerlaine Khan of the Steppe Alliance, Lady Corina the Green, Arch Matriarch Denuvial, and Master Schadel of Mannheim. Alas Tel Falcon of the Healers Guild was unable to attend.
Elven Plague
Lady Corina reported, “There is no cure to the Elven Plague and is now known to afflict ALL living creatures. I have spent many hours pouring over the books of Arcane Law to find any indications to a cure for this insipid disease. I have visited all the wise men within the various factions. From what I can gather the cure of the disease is lost in the mists of time….There are some accounts that it has something to do with ‘Blue Gem Stones’ and the discovery of the heir to the lost Elven King, reputedly kidnapped by the Dwarves back when time was young.” According to Earl Tarragon, Floris Brand stated that the disease was known for over twenty years and was nothing to do with the Death Knight or his master, Satûn. Some in the Great Hall disputed this.
Corvus renounced Throne
Sir Hugo Charenten then addressed the council, “Lord Corvus renounced his claim to the throne of Albion before the battle of 1094 AF but did not inform the Harts of his change of mind. Many a brave man of Albion laid down their life for no reason.” Duke Anree explained, “Corvus chose to proclaim himself ‘King.’ He was threatened by ‘traitors’ within Albion and wished to unite Albion behind him. Also his followers asked him to do so.” Sir Hugo continued, “The battle was lost, and Corvus fled from the field with a few pitiable followers.”
Duke Anree interrupted by saying, “We [the Lions] retreated.” Sir Hugo retorted, “Even so, you allowed Lord Corvus to be captured by Odyssey [a mercenary group in the pay of Lord Wolf.] These escorted him back to the Citadel of Norhault in Albion where he came under the protection of Duke Anree. Odyssey broke a number of contracts in doing this. It is doubtful whether they honoured any of them. The demarcations of the land of Albion are yet to be settled. This will be settled at the Lions Council at the end of April.”
Duke Anree stated, “Corvus would have renounced his claim to the throne should he have not been proven as the Pendragon.” Most would not agree and this was shown in their faces. Only Lady Corina replied, “Floris Brand said that Corvus was a much changed man.” We all knew what she meant.
Unliving in Bristol and Orkneyjar
Schadel, Undead Slayer, stated, “Large numbers of Undead have been seen around Bristol. They control an area of land as large as a county. They seem to be waiting for something. They are not advancing into other areas. All the Militia that have been sent to fight them have joined the ranks of the Unliving.”
Duke Anree proposed to send an army down there to fight them but wiser council prevailed. Schadel replied to this call to arms by saying, “Only the lesser Undead maybe slain by normal weapons. The more powerful creatures can only be slain by powerful magic either, Magical Weapons (men of Albion have only the three Swords of Waylund) or truly magical creatures. Even Lord Wolf with his werewolves is troubled by them.” Arch Matriarch Denuvial of the Incantors said, “Incantors have certain influence and spells over the Undead but they require a large number of them to have an affect.”
The meeting broke up
The formal part of the meeting broke up to allow many friends to re-acquaint themselves. In one of the exchanges Harlequin, the ‘spokesman’ asked how much does Lynx cost as he wished to buy her. I replied that it was not my place to enquire. Most of the men of Albion showed much concern over factions causing much trouble in order to diminish the power of this once great land of Albion. Many were very suspicious of Lord Wolf’s motives last year. After a couple of hours people started to leave.
